I would love to say this was taken in an exotic location after hours of patiently waiting but the truth is this was taken on the side of Gordon Road in Ogden at rush hour! The birds were all gathered on the ground in someone’s fenced-in front yard and I saw them as I was driving by. I thought the hundreds of black birds on the ground would be a good shot but then they all took off together, swirled around in a swarm and landed together in this tree. I snapped off 4 or 5 frames before they all took off again. The entire episode was less than a minute. The detail in this shot is tremendous - when blown up you can see the peeling white, paper-like bark and whispy branches of the tree.
